First AI service for actors to analyze their career and earn more

Auditional came to Humbleteam with an idea to create an AI driven service for actors, to help them manage hundreds of their auditions and finances. I led design at Auditional with a team of 2 designers and a researcher. I was responsible for organising work for the team, designing the Webapp, Chrome extension, Landing Product page and quality control of the end results.

Problem statement

Task

Create a web application, browser extensions and an Auditional product page.

Mission for user

Streamline auditional progress to replace traditional old tools, get more auditions and earn more money.

Target audience

Aspiring or existing middle-class actors in California and New York.

Success criteria

The design of a web application, browser extension and landing page submitted for development. Launch of Auditional service.

Planning

To better understand the timeline of the project I dived deeper into its needs and created a timeline in Notion to plan out the designers' work, because not only product designers were involved, but also an illustration designer, graphic designer, visual designer and researcher.

Webapp

Research

Main task for me and my team was to create wireframes and designs for the Auditional webapp — the main hub where users land after onboarding or after importing auditions. We worked together with a UX researcher who provided research on the potential user base.

Research Findings

One of the most interesting finds was that future actors usually use paper notebooks and color coding to sort and track auditions. Research also helped us understand which information about an audition is most important for the actor.

Wireframes and prototyping

The structure of the webapp table was based on tables people already create in notebooks or Excel. For wireframes we created more than 200 screens and a full prototype for usability testing.

Wireframes

Usability tests implementation

Next step was to implement usability test results, create visual concepts and final design for the webapp. I worked on the main Auditions page, created visual concepts and final UI for profile and support sections. As an additional request from developers we prepared transitions with references on CodePen.

Browser extension

Desk research

This was an interesting and exciting challenge — I had never worked on a browser extension before. We started from research on how browser extensions work at all.

Extension Research

Mindmapping

Together with founders we created a map of the Chrome extension to better understand how it will work, interact with the webapp and pages of acting platforms.

Wireframes

At this stage we created wireframes to understand the structure of each screen before diving into UI. Added extension wireframes to webapp prototypes for usability testing.

Usability tests implementation

Final step was to implement the usability test results and apply existing UI concepts to wireframes.
